Dr. Sudarshan Ballal, MD, US Board
Certified (Int Med, Nephro & Critical Care) is the director of
Manipal Institute of Nephrology & Urology (MINU) and head of the
Nephrology department. He ahs been associated with Manipal since 1991.
He was the best outgoing student and obtained first rand in MBBS in
all subjects from Mysore university. He was further trained at St.
Louis University, USA. He is associate clinical professor of Medicine
at St. Louis University Medical Centre and at KMC, Manipal &
Mangalore. He is a teacher and examiner for DNB Nephrology. He ahs
received many awards and gold medals both during the training and
subsequently. He has over 80 publications in National and
International Journals and has also authored chapters in text book.
His areas of interest is teaching and research in Nephrology.
44 year old Dr. Kishore’s, MCh, MD, DNB association with
Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, began three years ago. Since then he has
been not only rendering his expertise in medical consultancy but also
imparting his proficiency to students and residents alike. Before his
career with Manipal Hospital, he has served in various reputed medical
institutions for over 10 years. As Pediatric Nephrologists, his primary
area of interest is kidney disorders in children and renal
transplants. |

Dr. R Shivashankar, MS, MCh, FICS is the head of the department
of Urology and has been associated with Manipal Hospital since 1991.
He set the first Surgical department at the hospital and had a major
role to play in planning of the operatories. He obtained MBBS from JJM
Medical College, Davangere, where he is a visiting professor today. He
obtained post graduation in surgery from Stanley Medical College,
Chennai and was the best outgoing graduate in general surgery
receiving gold medals. He further trained for Urology super
specialization from Madras Medical College and went on to receive FICS
from USA. He has well established renal transplantation units and has
performed over 600 transplants with excellent results. His special
interest lies in urological procedures.
