people I have been treated by, the nursing staff, the domestic

very conscious of their efforts to make my stay a happy one. Dr.
Ameet Pispati of Jaslok Hospital was very encouraging and a
patient friendly surgeon that I have ever encountered. My
outcome was wonderful and much better than my best expectation.
Mediescapes India even arranged my seven sunny days in Goa with
visit to Taj Mahal travel package. They even arranged to
transport my handicap electric scooty all the way from Bombay to
Delhi for me to use during the recuperative holidays. I must say
I would have appreciated telling me the security problem of
airlifting my battery scooty from Bombay to Goa. And when I
return to the USA, when I have the opportunity, I will recommend
your medical services to the best of my ability.

Hip Joint Replacement including BHR (Hip Resurfacing) Patient
Testimonial
Patient ID: JHDPB
Patient Name:
Name withheld upon patient request
(ask us for reference) Nationality:
British Date of Treatment: Hospital
Name:
Jaslok Hospital Treatment City: Mumbai
Doctor/ Surgeon:
Dr. Ameet Pispati Treatment/ Procedure:
Birmingham Hip Resurfacing surgery, Patient’s cataract surgery
and his wife's Lasik surgery in India. Patient's Comments:
"India doesn't export its best doctors!" Early this
year I was diagnosed as needing a hip replacement for my left
hip. Aged 71, we had cancelled our private Health Insurance
partly due to the high cost for me and my wife (aged 72) but
mainly because, as a Type 2 Diabetic, about the only things I
would have been covered for were Hip and knee replacements and
Cancer.
The following options were available:
1. Waiting possibly until January 2006 for an NHS
operation with the risk of MRSA.
2. Private
Treatment at a local Hospital which I calculated would have cost
circa £17,500 (having already paid £1,400 for X-rays and MRI
Scan and consultation with the Surgeon). I was booked to have my
hip replacement on the 4th April 2005 but suffered a mild Heart
Attack on Easter Sunday the 27th March, as a result of which I
came out of Kingston Hospital within 3 days and checked myself
into the local private hospital for an angiogram (quoted at
circa £1,000 including one night in hospital) followed by an
Angioplasty the following day (quoted at circa £3,000 by the
Consultant) and charged at over £6,000 by the hospital, with
whom I am now in dispute. Including the Doctors Fees, etc the
total cost for 2 nights in the private hospital was £10,500. I
rebelled at this and sought an alternative venue for my hip
operation.
3. This resulted in finding The Horder
Centre in Crowborough, East Sussex where I was quoted just under
£9,000 and I arranged for the 26th July, as I had to wait as
least 3 months because of the Heart Attack. The Horder Centre is
a dedicated centre for Arthritis and hip and knee replacements,
but does not have full emergency operating facilities, in case I
had had another Heart Attack whilst under general aesthetic.
On the 25th June there was an article in the Mail concerning a
British Businessman who was quoted a 17 month wait for back
surgery and who had decided to go to India which was going to
cost including first class air fares under £9,000.
I
immediately followed this up on searching medical tours in India
Web Site and ended up with Mediescapes India in New Delhi, India
and their medical services in India website www.mediescapes.com,
who after seeing my sent X-rays and MRI Scan sent by DHL
recommended that I have my Hip Replacement at Mumbai (formerly
Bombay) with Dr Ameet Pispati in the Jaslok Hospital at a cost
of £5,511 including 14 nights in hospital because of appointment
dates issues. This was accepted by us as my wife was traveling
with me and she had also decided to have both eyes treated with
Lasik surgery, at a cost of £834 by Mediescapes India. We
traveled to Mumbai and back, First Class, with Etihad Airways,
the official UAE Airline with whom I had traveled before, with a
stop over at their hub in Abu Dhabi for circa £1,800 each.
We were met at Mumbai Airport on the 25th July ’05 by
Mediescapes India International Patient Cell Representative and
transported in an air conditioned Limo to the Hospital, where we
were installed in a suite room, with a separate couch -cum - bed
for my wife on the 16th Floor of the Jaslok Hospital overlooking
the Mumbai sea.
From that moment we were treated with the utmost care and
attention and immediately visited by Dr. Ameet Pispati who is a
young Doctor with impressive qualifications including being a
member of the FRCS (Ortho) UK, and who had studied and trained
in the UK at Southampton and Birmingham (with Dr. Derek McMinn
who was the first to fit the metal on metal “Birmingham Hip”).
Indeed, although all three Surgeons I consulted in the UK would
not recommend a Birmingham Hip for me because of my age, Dr.
Pispati advised that he had fitted them up to age 73 and subject
to seeing me was advising a Birmingham Hip as it would give me
greater mobility and 25 years before any further treatment was
likely.
On the 28th July I had my Birmingham Hip fitted with an
epidural (my choice) and the following week I had a cataract
removed in my right eye and a new lens fitted, in the same
hospital, whilst my wife had her Lasik Treatment (advance
Wavefront technology) on the 29th July.
The total cost including everything and 5 nights in the five
star, Taj Lands End hotel, booked by Mediescapes India and some
extra Physiotherapy came to circa £13,000 and both my wife and I
(who now reads without glasses and apparently I have 20/20 long
vision and drive without glasses) need only small magnification
for reading and computer work, and I am already walking, without
much assistance from a stick.
We are very pleased with
the whole trip and would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Ameet
Pispati and Mediescapes India.

Birmingham Hip Resurfacing Joint treatment in India.
Patient's Comments : After having been diagnosed with Osteo-
arthritis in my left hip 2 years ago we began to look at the
inevitable solution which would be surgery. The Wockhardt Group
came to our notice after seeing an article about Mediescapes
India in Strategic Health Care Marketing Journal published from
Rye, NY on 'Medical Tourism' in India. This lead to look at the
their website and after reading the details of Wockhardt
Hospital, Mumbai and the orthopedic team led by Dr. Malhan, we
decided to contact them.
From that point the whole
experience has been one of total professionalism at all levels.
The International Marketing cell of Mediescapes India answered
all questions both medical and personal promptly and precisely.
We were picked up at the airport in the dead of night and
whisked (if that is the right word for Mumbai's roads) away to
the hospital. There was a brief administrative procedure to
complete and then upto the room. The rest of next day was taken
up by medical checks, x-rays etc. and a visit from the surgeon
Dr. Malhan and his team.
The Birmingham Hip Resurfacing
operation was carried out on subsequent day and after only 2
days I began physiotherapy treatment with Dr. Ritu all
throughout the nursing care has been faultless led by the sister
in-charge Gayathri. We received regular visits by other members
of the medical team as well as the Head of Nursing on her
rounds. Mediescapes Mumbai representative also made regular get
well calls to ask about my progress. The support services of
housekeeping, maintenance and catering were all first class
providing a total service that would be difficult to match.
In conclusion, I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone
considering hip surgery, the services of Mediescapes India and
Wockhardt Hospital and would encourage you to make the decision
and place yourself in the expert hands of this world class
medical tourism team.

From when I arrived at the airport to leaving 23 days later, I

all the way down to the guys who cleaned the room it was all
done well and me feel comfortable. The food was very good and I
had no complaints there either. I choose to fist visit the Taj

most professional at all times so were the cardiologist,

The hotel arranged by

that I felt closed in and being a free spirit needed to spread

Patient's Comments :
Being able to walk
again with out pain, in a small way, is as
emotionally uplifting as being blind then being able to see. I
am now walking again, with out pain, thanks to care of Dr. Bose
and the services of Mediescapes India. I am a 55 year old male
from the USA semi-retired living in Australia. The cost of
surgery in the USA was out of the question and my health
insurance in Australia would not cover the operation because it
was a pre-existing condition. I was in constant pain or
discomfort. My quality of life had degenerated.
When I learned about hip
resurfacing, this is what I had visualized a hip replacement to
be: Simple, heavy duty metal for a big active guy like me, no
invasive bone removal, and little chance of dislocation.
I had made six inquiries to hospital's and medical tourism
companies in India, before I tried Mediescapes India. The other
inquires were slow in response and did not address my
expectations.
When I e-Mailed Mediescapes,
the response by Arun Kumar and his team was immediate and
beyond my expectations. With in a few days of exchanging emails
with my medical records I was scheduled for surgery in less than
three weeks. When the Indian visa service informed me a
visa was not possible in the short time before my flight I
emailed Mr. Kumar. In 45 minutes Mr. Kumar had three letters
from Apollo Hospital on their way to the India consulates in
Australia and the USA requesting my visa be expedited and I had
my visa in three days. Beyond arraigning the surgery,
Mr. Kumar took care of all my travels needs in India; hotels,
resorts, and car hire. All at a good value. As I write
this I am healing at a most beautiful quiet beach resort, near
Pondicherry, for the same price I would pay to stay at a run
down hotel in bad neighborhood in a city in the USA.
The care I received from Dr. Bose and the staff at Apollo
Specialty Hospital was also beyond my expectations. The
operation was over before I knew it. The hospital
staff attended to my comfort with sprit of care and compassion
that was overwhelming. Much different than western hospitals,
care and compassion is not a thing of the past but a way of life
in Indian medicine.
Nor exists the greed of
western medicine, the same operation in the USA would have cost
me six to seven times the expense.
Apollo Specialty Hospital
does two or three hip surgeries a day. For them it is
routine operation. For me it is common sense to use the
service that is the most efficient in their field. Especially
when it concerns your personal health. After I had chosen Dr.
Bose but not yet traveled from India, I was informed by a good
friend who did extensive research on hip surgery
through out the world, during
a two year battle with his medical insurance company in the USA,
which he eventually won, that I had chosen the best possible
surgeon in Asia if not the world.
After the surgery and talking
with other patients of Dr. Bose, who had been through the same
surgery I concluded: as did the other patients, that Dr. Bose
is, with out any doubt, the rock star of hip surgery!

Doctor/ Surgeon: Dr. Vijay Bose
Treatment/ Procedure : Bilateral Birmingham Hip Joint
Resurfacing in India
Patient's Comments : My wife XXX was in dire shape when we
finally realized she would need surgery. Both hip joints were
completely shot, she couldn't walk at all and was in constant
pain. After doing online research we concluded that Dr. Vijay
Bose at Apollo Specialty Hospitals in Chennai, India, was the
best in Asia (perhaps in the world) at performing Birmingham Hip
Resurfacing. We contacted Dr. Bose and were referred for our
arrangements to Arun Kumar of Mediescapes India. We had thought
of making the travel arrangements ourselves, as I am an old Asia
hand, but we turned the task over to Arun and I'm glad of it.
There were many complications to be dealt with, especially since
I didn't have vacation time left to accompany XXX to India and
help her through the airports. Arun overcame all problems
presented to him including an Indian visa waiting period so long
that XXX would have missed her surgery date if Arun and the
hospital had not helped organize a letter-writing campaign that
succeeded in expediting the visa. When I told Arun that the
beach resort he first recommended was beyond my budget, he
recommended a lower-cost alternative that turned out to better
with lovely smiling helpful staff. Everyone involved, from Dr.
Bose, the nurses and Mr. Mohan, the hospital coordinator, to the
staff of Ideal Beach Resort, where XXX did her rehab., was kind
and attentive. The only hitch came with my SIGNA insurance
policy, which turned out to have a rule I had not learned of
beforehand: It pays for only a semi-private room -- whereas the
foreigner's Platinum wing at Apollo offers single rooms only.
That cost me an unforeseen $200 a day. Otherwise, everything
went as planned. XXX, after six weeks in India and two
operations (both of them the "phase three" version of BHR, using
the largest fittings secured with pins in the femur, reserved
for the most severe cases), is en route home, looking forward to
walking normally in just a matter of weeks. We have only praise
and thanks for the brilliant surgeon Dr. Bose and his staff and
to D. Arun Kumar FROM MEDIESCAPES INDIA and the rest of his
world-class medical value travel and support network. |

I found out that I needed an
operation for a back problem which was causing severe pain to my
left leg from the sciatic nerve. After speaking to my GP and
realizing I was getting nowhere I decided to take the matter
into my own hands as I could hardly walk. After speaking to
private consultants and realizing that without private medical
insurance I was not going to be seen to in this country without
shelling out around £20,000 I decided to look elsewhere. I
decided to look into having the operation privately in India and
was fortunate to come across Mediescapes India. From my initial
enquiry when I e-mailed my MRI results to Mediescapes India I
was amazed at rapid replies to my e mails and within 3 weeks was
in India having the operation done. My back has been great ever
since and I can not thank Mediescapes India enough for the
attention given to me and my brother during our stay in India ,
no matter what our requests were . The hospital was incredible
and again the attention given was second to none. As for cost I
did the whole trip with first class flights, family run guest
house accommodation, medical treatment and Incidentals for less
than a quarter of the cost of the operation in England. I can
recommend going to India for medical treatment highly enough. I
wouldn't hesitate to go back If I had the need for more medical
treatment.

Recalibration at L4/5 level back surgery in India
Patient's Comments :
For several years before
treatment I had recurring lower back pain. At that time I was
quite active. In the summer of 2005 this became more severe and
constant, so that I had to almost stop leading an active
lifestyle. Suddenly, one morning I woke up with excruciating
pain and I noticed pain in my left leg all the way down to my
toes, which were also becoming numb and partially paralyzed..
I decided to see my family doctor at once who requested MRI's
and examined me. He told me I would most likely need surgery.
With MRI's in hand I decided to get a second opinion with a
neurologist for an expert diagnosis. since I am not much
familiar with Internet / Emails my daughter searched the
Internet and chance happen to explore services of Mediescapes
India whom she contacted for me and as per their request sent
all my medical reports by courier for their board certified
spinal consultant to study and recommend the best options
available for me. The neurologist’s diagnosis confirmed that I
had a severely ruptured L4/5 disc, which would urgently require
surgery as the S1and sciatic nerves were greatly impaired and
could suffer permanent damage if not operated. I was referred to
Dr. Harsh Bhargava in Apollo Hospital to perform this
neurosurgery either by standard or less invasive endoscopic
procedure.
Dr. Bhargava responded extremely rapidly. He examined my back
together with a fresh MRI's, CT Scans and X-rays taken in New
Delhi and concluded that there was too much loose material from
the ruptured disc in order to perform an endoscopic procedure.
Although he was fully booked for several months, he went out of
his way to schedule and perform a lumber recalibration on me.
The procedure went very smoothly and the treatment at the
surgery center was top-notch. After a two and half hour
operation and within 24 hours I was recuperating at the service
apartment recommended for my stay by Mediescapes India. Dr.
Bhargava was kind enough to visit me at the service apartment
and also referred me to one of the best physical therapists in
the area where I had around 10 sessions. Both Dr. Bhargava and
the therapist told me that the key to a quick and total recovery
would be to continue the stretching and back exercise program
prescribed to me by the therapist incl. regular walking. I have
followed this program rigorously, which is the most difficult
part of the whole recuperation..
Today 3 months after the surgery I feel no pain and stiffness is
gradually going away. I would say that I am at 90+%of the
flexibility I had before the entire thing started. I am
regularly doing my stretching / exercise regimen’ probably
forever to continue maintaining strong back muscles. I learned
that if I slough off, the nerves and back pain can flair up.
I am grateful for Mediescapes India's teams professionalism and
gentleness incl. their well trained team of board certified
doctors, nurses and nursing staff of Apollo Hospitals, CA and to
the lovely Indian family who looked after my each and every
small details while I was staying in their palatial home and
they all helped me regain a pain free life. The medical
treatment I received was first class indeed.

Patient's Comments : Thanks
for arranging the dental and comprehensive medical checkups. We
are very satisfied with the medical and dental work. Jo-Anne was
especially impressed with Dr. Vijay's professionalism.
My comprehensive medical checkup was very thorough and I would
recommend it to anyone. We were able to get the extra pills we
needed. The accommodation was very good especially the
Tata-Sherwood Complex. People from outside India might not
understand that a service apartment means sharing lounge and
kitchen facilities. Though our fellow guests were very
considerate and not a problem it is a cultural hurdle to get
over.
We have been to India twice before this trip so we knew a little
of what to expect. Ashok the caretaker / manager / guide were
very helpful and showed us what to do at the hospital. We had no
problems with the paperwork at the hospital as he took care of
it all. After the initial going to the hospital with him we
could easily cope getting to and from the hospital using auto
rickshaws. There were Internet facilities near the service
apartment complex that I could use.
After two weeks in the hospital we took a tour Mysore, Bandipur,
Kodaikanal and Ooty. At the latter place we went for a job
interview. This is one of the reasons we chose to go to
Bangalore for the medicals. The weather was so cool we had to
buy warm clothes. We loved the scenery on the whole trip. Thanks
ones again for the arrangements that your company put together
for us.

Patient's Comments : I had my
dental treatment - bridge work, extraction and even root canal
all done by the specialists at Manipal Hospital. Before coming
to India I was paranoid. I did some internet search and learnt
about the services of Mediescapes India as a Dental Tourism
organization. I was quite skeptical at first, but have realized
the fabulous service this organization has provided in just 2
days before leaving Sydney. I did not have to wait in lines, my
appointments for pick up and dental consultation all were fixed
before I touched Bangalore. The specialists at Manipal have been
one of the best I have ever come across, and here I am comparing
them to International standards.
Even in Australia, you wouldn’t experience, what Dentist Vijay
Paul and Giri Shankar and their team have done for me. They were
highly professional, warm and customer oriented. I felt as part
of a family here. I would recommend anyone to go through
Mediescapes India and Manipal Hospital as they are the best in
terms of service provision and customer satisfaction. I believe
every penny spent is worth it. D. Arun Kumar of Mediescapes has
consistently demonstrated his passion for client satisfaction by
keeping in touch on n off with me. I am glad that I came through
an agent, rather being lost in a big country like India.
To all future customers, enjoy India, it’s a beautiful place…

He states that he is walking with a special walker, designed to
chest height , on his own without assistance from other persons
up to 100 steps. he is doing very well mentally. He
has admittedly more control of each step. He can gauge and
sense better where he is placing his feet. His feet are not
swollen. He admits having more control of his toes. He really
believes that the stem cell has given him the boost that he
needed. He is motivated and much more aware of his
situation. He is doing 5-6 hours of rehab per day, 5 days
per week minimum. His weight is much more under control.
He is almost down to his walking weight.

Some of our associated
DCT Centers patients'
profile is presented here, indicating efficacy of DC (Dendritic
Cell Therapy) which is recently FDA approved
vaccines. Only those patients have been mentioned here who had
limited options or ones who had exhausted the conventional modes
of treatment, were given Dendritic cell therapy and improved
both in terms of quality of life and extended survival.
LIVER CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
An 55 year old lady diagnosed with HCC (Hepatocellular
carcinoma) came to us in November 2006. Her performance status
was poor, and had complaints of generalized weakness, nausea and
vomiting. Both the liver lobes had lesions. DENVAX therapy was
started for her. Her appetite improved, nausea and vomiting
subsided and has been ambulatory since then. She gained weight
subsequently and her performance status improved. CT scan taken
after six months revealed clearance of right lobe lesion and a
reduction in size of left lobe lesion. wise. After one year and
a half year, her disease started to show progression, for which
she was advised chemotherapy. She continued to receive DENVAX
therapy for another six months. Her disease remained stable till
November 2008. Her survival span and quality life has been far
better than any other conventional therapy.
NON Hodgkin's LYMPHOMA and treatment
using Dendritic Cell therapy
A middle aged lady presented in August 2007 with complaints of
CD20 negative NHL. She had earlier responded to chemotherapy,
but her disease was reappearing. Immune profile of her disease
was studied, and she was educated about the chances of her
recovery with DC therapy. She consented for DC therapy and her
treatment was started in September 2007. At the time of her
induction for treatment, her PET-CT indicated lesions in B/L
Lungs and spleen. She was having pea sized cervical lymph node
also. There were constitutional symptoms of poor appetite,
weakness, lassitude, and weight loss. She was given three doses
of Denvax in the same number of months. She improved
symptomatically during this period. Her PET-CT was repeated in
March 2008 and it showed clearing her lesions in spleen and
lungs. The cervical lymph node is no more palpable. She
continues to have her treatment at three monthly-intervals. She
has gained 5 kg of weight and is leading a symptom free life.
HODGKIN'S LYMPHOMA and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
A 23 year old male patient came to us with mediastinal lymph
nodes, mediastinal mass, history of weight loss, excruciating
pain in hip (due to lesion in hip joint) with loss of appetite.
He was diagnosed of Hodgkin's disease and given numerous doses
of chemotherapy but could not stop his disease progression. He
was on morphine tablets for pain management. His DENVAX
treatment was started in February 2008. By April 2008 he gained
5.5 kg of weight and his pain became bearable. He stopped taking
morphine and by the time he received 3rd dose of DENVAX, his
radiological report indicated clearing of lymph nodes. He is
continuing with DENVAX and is recovering to normalcy.
OVARIAN CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
A 58 yr old lady was diagnosed of cancer ovary in June 2004. Her
CA 125 antigen marker was positive and in the range of 10,000
units. She was operated upon and given six cycles of
chemotherapy. She recovered from her disease and her marker was
also within normal range. After one year, the CA 125 began
rising and she presented to us with an increased titer of 400
units. There were signs of recurrence, and she opted for DC
(DENVAX) therapy in June 2005. She has completed three years of
receiving DENVAX. She is free of disease, proven both clinically
and by radiological examinations. Her CA 125 marker is also
stable for the last three years.
We have done series of ovarian cancer patients and the
presentation is available in publications section of our
webpages.
MASTOID CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
One of our patient was diagnosed with CA left maxilla in the
year 2005. He was operated upon and received chemotherapy as
well as radiation. Later, his tumor reappeared at the same site
within a gap of six months leading to second surgery and
chemotherapy. He decided for DENVAX. He has received 8 doses of
DC Vaccine in 18 months and there is no recurrence till date. He
is back to his job and is enjoying life by playing badminton for
two hours every evening. He continued DENVAX treatment for
another 2 doses given 4 months apart and has completed stopped
DENVAX in 2007. He is last evaluated in November 2009 and is
radio logically free of disease.
MULTIPLE MYELOMA and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
A 48 year old bed-ridden male patient, suffering from multiple
myeloma with recurrent-urinary infection came to us in June
2006. His disease progressed from solitary plasmacytoma to
multiple myeloma over a period of three years. During this
period he received various cycles of chemotherapy and pelvic
radiation. He was also operated upon for fracture of neck femur.
His IgG was 4500 mg/dL at that time. Bone scan revealed multiple
active sites all along the spine and pelvic girdle. His
performance status was poor and there were no active regimes of
chemotherapy available at that stage. We started giving him
Dendritic cell cancer vaccine manufactured using his M band
protein content as antigen processed in our lab. He received
eight doses of DC cancer vaccines till September of 2007. For
the last one year, he was able to walk a few steps, take bath on
his own, and his performance status had improved. His recent
bone scan indicated regression of disease. There was benefit
both, in survival and quality of life. The patient ceases to
survive.
BONE CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
A 28 yr old lady was treated for osteosarcoma of right tibia, in
2005. She received radiation and chemotherapy after the
amputation of her right leg. Later, she developed metastasis in
both lung fields and was again advised for chemotherapy in
November 2006. Instead she opted for a combined treatment plan
of chemotherapy and Dendritic cell therapy; she has received
three cycles of chemotherapy and 7 DC vaccines till date. Her
post treatment CT scan reveals normalcy of lung fields. She has
been rehabilitated and is back to her normal routine with a near
perfect performance status.
LUNG CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
A 68 yr old lady came to us in Dec 2005 with left lobe Large
cell cancer of the lung with pleural effusion from the same
side. She had till then received a single dose of chemotherapy
and had refused further doses. Pleural tapping was done and her
TAA was identified and stored for DC vaccine preparation. She
received 9 doses of DC therapy in a 9 month period. Her PFT
improved and also the performance status. CECT remained
unremarkable. The pleural fluid was replaced by consolidation.
The tumor has not progressed since then and there is no evidence
of metastasis to any organ. The patient is surviving and is no
more receiving DC vaccines. She is now on passive immunotherapy
for the last 12 months.
STOMACH CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
A middle aged patient came with the history of carcinoma stomach
along with the involvement of lower end of esophagus and
duodenum. His CT scan depicted extension of disease to adjoining
lymph nodes. He was operated upon without any success due to
extensive nature of disease. A feeding jejunostomy tube was
installed to avoid starvation as the disease may not allow him
to take any more feeds through the oral cavity. He was given
palliative chemotherapy but could not tolerate even one cycle.
We started Dendritic cell therapy and his condition started
improving gradually. He was taking his meals even after eight
months of diagnosis contrary to the expectations of his doctors.
His feeding jejunostomy tube was removed as it remained
purposeless. He lived a comfortable life for a year since the
diagnosis of advanced and incurable cancer of stomach.
BREAST CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
A 54 yr old lady suffering from cancer of left breast, presented
with complaints of back ache and restriction of movement, in
July 2006. Her bone scan revealed multiple skeletal metastases.
The X ray of March 2006 revealed osteophytes degenerative
changes at D7 to D12 and Lumbar vertebrae. She was given six
cycles of chemotherapy during the period 2004- to June 2006. The
lesions reduced in size, but later reappeared alongwith the bony
mets. She was put on Dendritic cell cancer vaccine therapy and
has received 6 doses since then. There is improvement in
performance status and is walking without support. She
occasionally takes pain killers for the back ache. She is still
receiving DC therapy at three-monthly intervals.
GALLBLADDER CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
We received a female patient of Cholangiocarcinoma (Gallbladder
duct) treated earlier (2007) by surgery, chemotherapy and
radiation. She was having her primary disease in CBD, Pancreas
and duodenum. Luckily, she was operated by Wipples Protocol and
completed her chemotherapy/radiation but the success was short
lived. After 9 months she developed a swelling in chest wall
involving pectoral muscle. The surgeon took a second chance and
she was again operated for chest wall metastasis. She was
offered second line chemotherapy by she refused it in her
primary hospital on the grounds that this would give her no long
term benefit. She came to know of us and discussed the treatment
plan. We planned to give customized Dendritic cell therapy along
with low dose chemotherapy (gemcitabine) in order to have
proliferative property of T cells and Dendritic cells. We gave
her three doses of gemcitabine and about 22 doses of Denvax
therapy. In Feb 2009, she was evaluated with PET CT scan and to
her surprise she has no evidence of disease after completion of
2 years of treatment. She is continuing with Denvax but at 2-3
months interval.
BRAIN CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
We have treated many patients of advanced stage brain cancer
(Glioma multiform - WHO Grade IV variety). Most of the patients
survived longer than their similar controls (cohorts). These
patients came to us when they had second or third relapse after
surgery but no one received the therapy when it is actually
required i.e. immediately after surgery. If we could have done
it at that stage probably we may have some data to show that
their tumor had no relapse thereafter.
CANCER CBD (involving gallbladder /
pancreas / chest wall) and treatment using Dendritic Cell
therapy
We have treated a lady having history of CA CBD involving
pancreas and duodenum, operated in 2007 (Wipples surgery). She
received chemotherapy and radiotherapy but developed secondary
chest wall disease in late 2007. Again she was operated and her
biopsy report indicated malignancy. The cut section was not free
of tumor (margins were having malignant cells indicating the
disease was still present in the tumor bed). She was again
advised to receive chemotherapy but she took our advise and we
started treating her with low dose gemcitabine chemotherapy
along with DENVAX therapy. She kept receiving three doses of
gemcitabine and three doses of DENVAX in initial two months
period, thereafter kept on DENVAX monthly therapy. She was
constantly monitored by serum marker tests and ultrasound exams.
In August, 2009 she was subjected to PET CT exam and found to be
completely free of disease- no active lesions were found. She
has been kept on DENVAX therapy at 3 monthly interval and is
like any other cured cancer patient. It is to be noted that
conventional oncology has no cure for such patients. Let us also
explain the rationale of success in this patient - and that is
she started receiving therapy of DENVAx at minimal tumor load,
where actually Dendritic cells work wonders in not allowing the
cancer to progress any further.
PROSTRATE CANCER and treatment using
Dendritic Cell therapy
A 74 years old male presented to us with complaints of
inoperable prostate cancer with metastasis to pelvic bones. He
was having pain in limbs and has difficulty to move and remain
bed ridden for most of the time. Initially he responded with
hormone therapy but gradually it turned hormone resistant. He
has to take three to four doses of pain killers for day to day
management. We started with DENVAX therapy in the year 2007.
Within three doses of the therapy he became pain free requiring
no pain killer medication. Gradually he resumed his day to day
activities including riding the motorcycle and going back to his
shop. His PSA level remained stable at 4-5 units. He is
continuing the treatment and receiving doses of DENVAX every
three months. |
